Get Away on a Budget

Traveling is considered a luxury. We know it shouldn’t be so expensive. If you’re like us, you want to see the world! How can you see the world and not spend a million bucks? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Most people neglect to remember that you can take trips as long as you budget where your money is going. You can actually do all of the fun things that the Kardashians (OK, maybe not everything) are doing. Let’s start at the beginning.

  1. Where: Sit down with your family, partner, or friend (whomever you’re traveling with) and list your dream vacation spots in one column, and then list a place that is similar in the other. You’ve already started cutting costs. You can visit a website like Expedia to find great travel deals. Websites like these will offer you an entire package for your destination. This usually includes a car, flight, and hotel stay. Always remember, “A bundle will save a bunch”.
  2. When: This is the easy part. Pick a day. Stick to it.
  3. Start Putting Away Money: Not only will you and your travel buddy need to pay for your stay, but you will need spending money. Start saving the day you set a date. It doesn’t have to be much. Five dollars here and there will really add up in six months. Think about it, five dollars every week for 6 months is one hundred and twenty dollars. If you planned a weekend getaway, that’s more than enough money for meals and maybe even a souvenir!

So, you don’t necessarily have to be a celebrity to treat yourself to a five star vacation. You can very well plan the greatest vacation on a dime budget. Just be sure to plan it in advance and save, save, save! Summer might not be a drag after all.
